What's New at Banville Wine Merchants

March 20th, 2024
96 points for DCC's 2019 Prime Donne Brunello!

Bruce Sanderson of Wine Spectator featured the 2019 Brunello wines of Donatella Cinelli Colombini in #WineWednesday's Wine Spectator Insider Weekly! A stunning 96-point score for the 2019 Prime Donne!

On the 2019 vintage of Brunello Bruce writes: "The 2019s offer plenty of ripe fruit flavors, such as cherry, strawberry, raspberry and plum notes, along with floral, iron, mineral and wild herb accents. The expression of fruit is compelling, yet there is plenty of structure in the best versions; these should age well over the next decade or two."

Violante Gardini, Donatella's daughter, has been visiting the USA this week, meeting with our distributor partners and participating in education and consumer events throughout the state. March is Women's History Month and it is very fitting to focus on Donatella today as she is a true pioneer and advocate of women in the wine community. Donatella owns two wineries, one in Montalcino and one in Trequanda. All of the people who work at Donatella's properties, including the head winemaker, Valérie Lavigne, are women, which is a unique situation in Italy and a global beacon of progress for women in wine everywhere!
