Vinos Guerra

Founded in 1879 by Don Antonio Guerra, Vinos Guerra is one of the most historic wineries in Spain and the oldest winery in the northwestern region of Bierzo. Not only was Don Antonio Guerra one of the first producers to bottle method champenoise wines in Spain, but in addition to wine, he also made a range of spirits including Vermouth and Anisettes. Don Antonio was a pharmacist by trade and he used his scientific background to pioneer what were considered to be revolutionary winemaking
techniques for that era. His skill in marketing was also impressive. He formed one of the very first "wine clubs" and wrote poetic back labels for his wines.

Bierzo is located in northwest Spain not far from the northern border of Portugal. The  vineyards of Vinos Guerra lie on the edge of the legendary Pilgrim Way to Santiago de Compostela. Guerra grows grapes on 1,000 ha (2,471 acres) but after green harvesting and rigorous selection, just 10% of these grapes are chosen to be made into wine. Rigorous selection makes for extraordinary quality wines with an impressive sense of depth and flavor.
