Love & Squalor

Based in Portland, Focused on the Willamette Valley
Portland Wine Company is based in Portland, Oregon, with a focus on wines sourced from the Willamette Valley. Their Pinot Noir draws from multiple vineyard sites across the northern Willamette AVAs, while the Riesling comes from six sites, including old-vine plantings dating to 1971 and 1976.
Founded by Matt Berson, Built as a Family-Run Winery
The winery was founded by Matt Berson, vintner and winery owner, who built the label after working in vineyards and cellars in Oregon, New Zealand, Napa, Germany and Argentina. Angela Reat, his wife and creative partner, has helped shape the brand, tasting room and broader business, making Portland Wine Company very much a family-run operation.
Grower Partnerships and a Minimal-Intervention Approach
Portland Wine Company does not own vineyards, instead partnering with growers who care deeply about their sites and fruit. The approach is practical and quality-driven: small-lot production, gentle handling, minimal oak, no commercial yeast in most reds, and a focus on preserving freshness, site character and the natural expression of the grapes.
