Contrada R Nerello Mascalese Terre Siciliane IGT
-
Description :
Contrada Rampante is the highest contrada which rises above 1,000 meters/3,280 feet ASL. This vineyard reaches the limit of vine cultivation on Etna, where the plants have to struggle to survive. The soil is made of very old, sandy, and oxidized lava. The vines reach 120 years of age. Thanks to the high altitude, this is always the last vineyard to be harvested. Rampante is balsamic, refined, and infinite in its aromatic expressions.
Vinification: Alcohol fermentation took place in stainless-steel vats. The wine was aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.Grape varieties :

Tasting notes :
Paler in color, yet full of nuance, this wine offers a shifting mix of dried rose petals, floral notes, cedar, and dried lemon. Botanical and perfumed accents mingle with a distinct pumice-like mineral character. Medium-bodied and refined, it glides across the palate with exceptionally polished, silk-like tannins.
