Description :

Contrada Sciaranuova reaches an altitude of 850 meters / 2788 feet asl. Sciaranuova means "the new lava flow" in Sicilian and it refers to the recent geological age of this soil, which was formed just 400 years old. The soil is made of lava gravel, and the vines are 80 years of age. In the glass Sciaranuova moves as if in a dance of equilibrium and grace. It is deep and full-bodied, fills the palate but surprises with a distinctive vertical finesse.
Vinification: Contrada Sciaranuova is adapting very well to the erratic weather pattern of the last vintages. After the alcohol fermentation in stainless-steel vats, the wine was aged for 19 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
