Passopisciaro
Contrada G Nerello Mascalese Terre Siciliane IGT
-
Description :
Contrada Guardiola is an ancient contrada stretching from 800 to 1000 meters/2624 to 3280 feet ASL that covers 7 ha—it's the largest Contrada and also where Passopisciaro estate is located. The soil here is very antique, of pyroclastic origin and varies from lava rocks to pure volcanic dust, depending on the position of the vineyard. The Nerello Mascalese vineyards here have reached an age of 140 years and are bush-trained. Contrada Guardiola results in a wine with a surprising dualism between openness and austerity, fruits and flowers, tannins, acidity and a never-ending complexity.

Tasting notes :
Guardiola's pedigree comes through immediately in the glass. Dark and powerful, it leads with a vivid rush of black raspberry layered with ash, earth, sage and mint. The texture is elegant and velvety, yet there's real lift, with saline mineral notes carrying tart wild berries and a touch of exotic citrus across the palate. Tannins build through the finish, but a dense core of red fruit remains, creating a striking interplay of depth, energy, and finesse.
