Contrada PC Chardonnay Terre Siciliane IGT

Contrada PC is a mountain Chardonnay with a long aging potential. The first vintage produced was 2018. Contrada PC was created over time. As the vines of Chardonnay grew older, certain parcels started to excel. This wine comes from Passochianche, a minuscule terrace parcel lying at 870 - 950 meters / 2854 - 3116 feet a.s.l. just above the main estate of Passopisciaro. Here the roots of the Chardonnay have made their way among the lava rocks. The special characteristics of this contrada have inspired Passopisciaro to produce a deep, rich white wine for long aging.
Vinification: 30% of the grapes had a pre-fermentative maceration in stainless steel vats for about 24 hours at 10°C / 50°F, while the remaining grapes were gently pressed in whole clusters. Alcohol and malolactic fermentation took place in large Slavonian oak casks, where the wine subsequently aged for 16 months on the fine lees, with a few short stays in cement tanks.
