Where Boundaries Become Connections 

Mending Wall is a boutique, multi-family winery situated on the Silverado Trail in St. Helena, at the heart of Napa Valley. The name is drawn from Robert Frost's poem of the same name — the idea that the walls we build between us can also be places of meeting — and it speaks directly to the spirit of the project. This is a winery born of friendship, built on the belief that wine is a catalyst for conversation rather than an occasion for pretension. The result is a welcoming, unpretentious approach to some of Napa's most serious winemaking.

An Important Collaboration

Mending Wall brings together three families whose paths converged around a shared passion for terroir-driven wine. Frank Dotzler, who also owns Outpost Winery, first partnered with winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown in 2003 — a relationship that has produced some of Napa's most celebrated bottles ever since. Mark Pulido and Donna Walker, whose Pulido~Walker label has long been a benchmark for single-vineyard Cabernet, round out the ownership with a philosophy grounded in scientific rigor, patience, and deep respect for place. At the center of it all is Thomas Rivers Brown, whose credentials speak for themselves: the youngest winemaker ever to receive a 100-point score from Robert Parker — a feat he has since repeated more than twenty times — two perfect scores from Wine Spectator, and Food & Wine's 2010 Winemaker of the Year.

Thomas Rivers Brown's approach to winemaking is less about formula and more about attentiveness — allowing the grapes, the site, and the vintage's own character to guide every decision. No two Mending Wall wines are quite the same, and that is very much by design. The portfolio is limited in production and focused on single-vineyard expressions that reflect the honest nature of Napa Valley's most distinctive sites.
