Exploration of Terroir: The Essence of ROCKWERK Grüner Veltliner

ROCKWERK Grüner Veltliner hails from the rocky soils of Lower Austria, where a significant presence of rocks in the vineyard profoundly influences the vine's growth and the resulting wine's character. These rocky soils play a crucial role in water retention, heat distribution, and nutrient exchange, ultimately shaping the terroir-driven profile of ROCKWERK.

A Collaborative Endeavor: Visionaries Behind ROCKWERK

ROCKWERK is a collaboration between American Master sommelier Jesse Becker, German winery owner Christian Ress of Balthasar Ress, and consulting Austrian winemaker Markus Huber. Jesse Becker MS has been tasting the wines of Austria since working as a young sommelier in the early 2000s. He is a Grüner Veltliner devotee and is genuinely obsessed with garden gnomes, hence his choice of icon for the label of ROCKWERK.

Sustainable Stewardship: The Foundation of ROCKWERK

Certified sustainable by Sustainable Austria, ROCKWERK adheres to rigorous standards in viticulture and vinification procedures. From biodiversity and soil health to energy consumption and social responsibility, ROCKWERK exemplifies sustainability in every aspect of production, ensuring a responsible and eco-friendly approach to winemaking.

Artistry Amidst the Rocks: The Essence of ROCKWERK

ROCKWERK pays homage to the longstanding tradition of Austrian winegrowing, where the growers' meticulous care among the rocky vineyards yields wines of distinct minerality and character. Werk, when spelled this way in German, is used in the sense that a piece of art is a work (werk) of art, an artist's body of work (werk), or as the artist's masterpiece (Meisterwerk).
