Storybook Mountain Vineyards

Napa Valley Estate Reserve Zinfandel

    • Description :

Selected from those barrels promising depth and intensity for long aging, this wine takes complexity and finesse to another level. Occupying a mountainside at the head of the Napa Valley, Zinfandels were first planted here in 1883. It is a grape unusually well adapted to the red clay loam soils, eastern exposures, and microclimate of Storybook's hillside estate. The vines are hand tended, from pruning through picking. The crop is carefully regulated, with two green harvests in May and August, to maintain just the right number of grapes on each vine, averaging 2 to 2.5 tons per acre. Storybook is a CCOF-certified organic grower.
Cooperage: 16 months in French and American oak.

      Tasting notes :

Cool, long fermentations enhance Zinfandel's traditional berry profile with an added, black cherry and spice overtone that is uniquely Storybook. The flavors are focused, infusing the palate with the cherry/berry promise of the aromatics with an added
dollop of the spice and black pepper that is so unique to Zinfandel. The finish is complex, focused, and lasting.
