The Vineyardist

The Vineyardist estate is a unique property located in the northwest hillsides of Napa Valley known as Diamond Mountain. Its primary components are four (4) estate vineyard blocks and a new state-of-the-art winery designed and built specifically to vinify only Vineyardist estate grapes. Warm days, mild nights and well-drained rocky soils produce remarkable wines. The estate was established in 1879 by Lorenz Peterson, a Danish-born shipbuilder from San Francisco. Mr. Peterson became skilled in farming the estate's vineyards, crafting its wine, and marketing its production, and was known as a "Vineyardist." In 2000, after a decade-long search, the husband and wife team of Dirk Fulton & Becky Kukkola, acquired the Estate. Jim Barbour, one of Napa's leading viticulturists, redeveloped the historic vineyards and plant new blocks. Currently, the legendary Phil Coturri oversees the vineyards and esteemed winemaker Tony Biagi leads the wine program.
