The Cain team has been waiting years to be able to release the NV18 Cain Cuvée. This was the last Cain Cuvée to be bottled before the Glass Fire in 2020.
The Cain Cuvée is a blend of two vintages. In the case of the NV18, the dominant vintage, 2018, was particularly full, rich, and complete, while the preceding vintage, 2017, was remarkable for its perfume, elegance, and freshness. This pair of vintages creates a delightful ensemble that is delicious with food now and promises to age beautifully.
Cain Cuvée is the most eclectic of Cain's blends because it is not only a blend of multiple varieties but also of two vintages. The Cain Cuvée is drawn mainly from different vineyards, and it is intended to be an expression of lightness and to leave your palate refreshed. They are also looking for complexity on the nose and balance on the palate. To achieve all of this, blending is a surprisingly useful and powerful method.
