Utopia Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva Classico DOCG
-
Description :
Vineyard location: Jesi di Castelli
Utopia is a reserve of Verdicchio wine that ferments in concrete tanks. The wine rests for 12 months on its lees and then for an additional 6 months in bottle before release. It does not undergo malolactic fermentation. This wine is named after Thomas More's book, Utopia, written in 1516. At Montecappone, Utopia means the way to perfection: walk, study, work, and live to produce excellent quality wines.
In his book Native Wine Grapes of Italy, Ian d'Agata, says that "Verdicchio is arguably Italy's greatest native white grape variety." Grown mostly in the region of Marche, Verdicchio is particularly well-suited to the maritime climate and clay of the Castelli di Jesi region, which is located in the northern part of Marche.
The Montecappone property currently stretches over 54 hectares of vineyards and 12 hectares of olive groves that are scattered amongst the hills and castles of beautiful Jesi.
