Donatella Cinelli Colombini - Casato Prime Donne
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG
-
Description :
Made only in the best vintages, Brunello Riserva is the quintessence of the best Sangiovese gapes from the single vineyard Ardita in Casato, Montalcino. To quote Donatella: "Brunello does not become Riserva; it is born to be Riserva right from the beginning, right from the moment the grapes are chosen to make it."
Vinification: Takes place in truncated-cone shaped cement vats with open cap, puncher and automatic temperature control. Fermentation temperatures remained spontaneously low. The macerations in contact with the skins were longer than usual and this delayed the racking by 10 days.
Aging: In 15-20 hl barrels and 5-7 hl French oak tonneaux produced by small artisan workshops with wood seasoned for over two years.Grape varieties :
Sangiovese
Altitude :
220m ASL
Soil :
Rich in clay
Alcohol :
14%
Tasting notes :
Bright and intense ruby-red color. Complex and intense nose with hints of ripe red jammy fruit, spice, vanilla, black pepper and tobacco. It has an intense yet balanced palate with great structure and a nice richness in polyphenols. A powerful "big" wine.
