Björnson Vineyard

Aligoté Van Duzer Corridor

    • Description :

Appellation (AVA): Van Duzer Corridor, Willamette Valley, Oregon
      Vineyard: Pamar Vineyard, Tom's block
Vinification: The fruit was hand-picked and whole-cluster pressed. The juice was cold-settled for one day before being clean-racked and inoculated. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was racked into neutral barrels for three months of sur lie aging. Malolactic conversion was inhibited, and the wine was naturally cold-stabilized in barrel prior to bottling.

      Grape varieties :

      Aligoté

      Soil :

A combination of marine sediment and volcanic soils

      Tasting notes :

A nice crushed-stone minerality and notes of merengue, orange blossom, and lemon zest. The palate has a soft velvety texture and more minerality conjoined with the acidity, which lengthens the finish. Aligoté is a sibling of both Chardonnay and Auxerrois and is often referred to as the "other" Burgundian white grape.
