Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy: Precision & Purity in every Sip

Along with Chassagne, Puligny-Montrachet is considered one of the purest expressions of Chardonnay. Just meters away from the renowned Grand Cru vineyards, the Chavy family has been crafting wines in this iconic region for over 200 years. Today, Jean-Louis Chavy and his son carry forward this rich legacy, producing wines known for their elegance, precision, and remarkable balance of freshness & minerality.

Located in the prestigious village of Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy is a storied family estate where winemaking has been a way of life for over 200 years. The family's legacy spans across six generations, starting with Gérard Chavy who acquired the estate in 1820 and steadily expanded its holdings over the years. Since then, each generation of the Chavy family has played a critical role in refining and developing the estate's vineyards and winemaking techniques, preserving Puligny's rich winemaking traditions while embracing innovations.

In 2002, Jean-Louis Chavy took over the domaine, and has since guided the estate through significant milestones, including the construction of a modern winery and the acquisition of additional vineyard plots. His leadership has been instrumental in crafting wines that capture the purity, precision, and finesse that Puligny-Montrachet is revered for.

In 2020, Paul Chavy (Jean-Louis' son), joined the family estate after completing formal studies in viticulture and oenology and gaining valuable experience in other wine regions. Paul's influence marks a new chapter in the estate's evolution. He has diversified the business by launching a prestigious negoce line, expanding the estate's offering while staying true to the family's unwavering commitment to showcasing the unique terroirs of Puligny-Montrachet.

The estate's vineyard holdings are predominantly Chardonnay, planted in some of the most revered terroirs in Puligny-Montrachet, including Premier Cru sites such as Les Champs Gains, Les Folatières, and Les Les Clavoillons. Here, the limestone-rich soils and ideal microclimates create conditions for producing world-class white wines that balance richness with minerality and elegance.
