Valdisanti Toscana IGT 2011: 91 points

"A sumptuous, open-knit wine, the 2011 Valdisanti offers plenty of up-front appeal. Raspberry jam, succulent red cherries, flowers and cinnamon are all pushed forward in a radiant, supple Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend to drink over the next few years.” -A.G.

Picconero Tenuta Montebello Toscana IGT 2011: 93 points

"The 2011 Picconero is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. Rich and nicely layered in the glass, the 2011 shows the year's radiance and pure generosity in its open-knit personality and soft contours. Sweet red cherry, mocha, spice, mint and leather add shades of nuance on the close. As good as the 2011 is - and it is delicious - it also is not surprisingly very internationally styled and not particularly expressive of Castelnuovo Berardenga or Chianti Classico." -A.G.

Picconero Tenuta Montebello Toscana IGT 2007: 93 points

"In addition to the new releases, I also had a chance to revisit the 2007 Picconero, a wine that has developed better than I had originally envisaged. The once formidable tannins have softened considerably over the last years, releasing the aromatics and fruit. Dark, sumptuous and spiced, the 2007 captures the resonance of the year in spades. The 2007 is just beginning to show the early signs of aromatic complexity. This is a gorgeous, modern-styled Tuscan red to drink over the next 5-10 years.” -A.G.
